Great Brands: Lagerhaus
There are a lot of reasons to revisit Sweden and the budget store Lagerhaus is certainly one of them! I love their graphic items. Unfortunately they don't ship outside of Sweden -- like a lot of other Scandinavian webshops for some reason.. Last time I was there I bought the Fika cups (Fika means having coffee and some pastries in Swedish), the grey pot holder, the black and white tray and the Din mamma jobbar inte här ("your mother doesn't work here") tea towel :)
At the end of this month I'll visit Copenhagen and the Swedish city Malmö is just 30 minutes away by train! That train crosses the famous Oresund bridge that stars so prominently in Bron/Broen -- the tv-series that my boyfriend and I love :)
Great Brands: Muuto
Another lovely nordic brand is ofcourse Muuto! The word Muuto means 'new perspective' in Finnish. You may not know this, but the brand consists of more than thirty young designers from all over Scandinavia. They make beautiful pieces of furniture and accessories, made from interesting fabrics -- but unfortunately these pieces are also very expensive when compared to - in my eyes - similar brands like HAY :( That doesn't make these items less special, so here are some of my favourite pieces from their collection!
Great Brands: HAY
HAY is a Danish company that was founded in 2002 by Rolf and Mette Hay. They were influenced by Danish design from the 1950's and 1960's but gave it a distinctly modern twist. I don't think they've made something that I didn't like :) My local HAY supplier is just around the corner, so if my boyfriend screws up somehow he knows what to do ;)
