Design Love: Design House Stockholm Block Lamp (sponsored post)

I've written a post about Design House Stockholm a while ago, but today I'd like to highlight one of my favourite items from their collection, since mine is due to arrive soon. I'm talking about the Block Lamp by Harri Koskinen. It was designed in 1996 and I think you can see why this lamp is the most famous and bestselling item from the entire Design House Stockholm collection :) I prefer the one with the red cord (you can also get them with a white or a black cord) because I think it gives the design just that extra touch, because the lamp on its own doesn't contain much colour :) I'll make sure to look it up when I'm in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York this summer, because it is part of the permanent collection of the museum.

Design Love: Classic Bird by Kristian Vedel

It's time for another Danish design classic: the minimalistic bird by Kristian Vedel (sold by Architectmade). Vedel first made the bird in 1959 as part of a family of birds, varying in size. The funny thing about this bird is that you can flip its body upside down, changing it into a ladybird or more masculine bird :) Its head is adjustable as well: you can make it (curiously) look up or look down if you want him to look sad or shy. My boyfriend gave me a small one for christmas, saying he couldn't believe he paid €40 for such a small wooden object. He will never understand ;)

Design Love: Kay Bojesen Teak Monkey

Another midcentury modern classic: the Kay Bojesen Teak Monkey! It was designed by Bojesen in 1951 for a Danish children TV show. He said that "the lines in a product should smile". I love how timeless and playful the design feels. You can make it a centerpiece in your room or hang it somewhere more subtle. The second photo is my Monkey :)

Design Love: &Tradition NA1 Milk Lamp

The NA1 Milk Lamp was designed in 2009 by Norm Architects for &Tradition and already seems to be a design classic! Just like the tea pot Norm Architects designed for Menu this lamp has Japanese as well as nordic influences. It's available with wooden and black legs, so take your pick! This is one of my favourite lamps and is high on my christmas wishlist for this year! :)

Design Love: Areaware Cubebot

The Cubebot was designed by award-winning designer Andrew Weeks for Areaware. He was inspired by Japanese Shinto Kum-zi puzzles. It's supposed to be for kids (and adults) from 3 years and up. But last week I bought the last one in the store and neither I, nor my boyfriend, nor the salesperson was able to restore it to its original cube form (so it could go back in its box). Hmmm... ;) I really love its playful design though!
